Toyota Car Insurance groups

If you’re looking for insurance on a Toyota, you’ll be pleased to know that we insure many Toyota models. To make your life easier, we’ve put together a list of the insurance groups for the most popular ones. Unfortunately, we can’t mention every Toyota we insure – otherwise we’d be here forever! But if your car isn’t on the list, it doesn’t mean we won’t insure it.

Toyota Aygo Insurance Groups

If you’re looking for insurance for a Toyota Aygo, then you’ve come to the right place! The Toyota Aygo is a city car with a modest engine size, which means that it tends to fall into the lower insurance groups (peaking at level 8). The latest models come in many trims, and there’s several ways for you to put your own stamp on your car. Entry-level technical specs include USB and AUX-in capabilities, while higher spec options feature built-in gadgets, such as a touch screen multimedia system. Of course, the higher spec trims may push your car into a higher insurance bracket as repairs could be more expensive.

Please be aware this is a guide only, insurers may group these cars differently.

Model Engine Size Insurance Group
Aygo (05–14) 1.0–1.4 2–4
Aygo (14 onwards) 1.0 5–8

Toyota Auris Insurance Groups

Are you interested in insurance for a Toyota Auris? Then Sheilas’ Wheels can help. The Auris is a family hatchback that comes with a range of engine sizes, starting with the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. If you want more power behind the wheel, there's a more sporty option with diesel engines ranging from 1.6-litre to 2.0-litre. But it’s worth bearing in mind that a more powerful model could put you in a higher, more expensive insurance group. The Auris Touring Sports is classed as a compact estate. You can choose from petrol, diesel or hybrid engines. Its engines range from the 1.2-litre petrol, to the 1.4-litre diesel, all the way up to the 1.8-litre hybrid. Insurance groups vary depending on the power of the engine you have, so factor that into your budget before deciding which suits you best.

Model Engine Size Insurance Group
Auris (07–13) 1–1.4 2–4

Auris (12 onwards) 1.2–1.8 6–16

Toyota Celica Insurance Groups

For those looking for insurance on a Toyota Celica, then you’ll be pleased to know that we can help. The Celica is the seventh generation of the Toyota Celica coupé. It was first introduced in 1999, with the last one rolling off the production line in 2006. It has a modest engine size for a sports car, so it falls into the mid-range insurance groups. The Celica is also a front-wheel drive, which means it’s not as powerful as a four-wheel coupé.

Toyota Avensis Insurance Groups

Have you got a Toyota Avensis? What about insurance? The Avensis comes in a range of body types: hatchback, saloon, estate, and tourer. The hatchback starts with the entry-level S trim, whose engines range from 1.6-litres up to 2.0-litres. It has good pickup and can leap from 0-60mph in 11.0 seconds (depending on the type of engine you have).

When it comes to insurance groups for the S trim, they are relatively low (peaking at 17). But if you opt for a trim with a larger, more powerful engine, then your insurance group could be higher.

If you’re after a family car, then you might be tempted by the Saloon. It’s larger than the other body types and comes with a choice of trims. Some have extra features, such as the Business Edition which has as cruise control and alloy wheels. These tend to fall into the low to mid-range insurance groups. The tourer and estate also come in several trims with varying engine sizes, and these fall low to mid-range insurance groups.

Toyota Corolla Insurance Groups

For those looking for insurance on a Toyota Corolla, then you’ll be pleased to know that we can help. The Corolla has four body types: hatchback, saloon, estate, and the compact MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) the Verso.

If you’re after a sportier appearance, then the hatchback might catch your eye. It has sportier trims and can go from 0-60mph in just 6.7 seconds! Of course the more powerful engine the higher the insurance group.

For those with a little brood or looking to travel long distances, then the Verso may be more appealing. It’s a people carrier and features both diesel and petrol engines. Petrol is a good option if you want a car for the school runs, while a diesel engine is better for those who’ll be driving long distances.

When it comes to insurance groups for the Verso, it falls into a mid-range because of its engine size and specs. Similarly, the estate and saloon body types and also fall into mid-range insurance groups.

Does Sheilas’ Wheels offer third party only insurance?

I’m afraid not. The lowest cover we offer our Sheilas is third party, fire and theft. This means you’ll have protection if your car is stolen or damaged by fire. But it wouldn’t cover you for damage in an accident.

Would Sheilas’ Wheels insure my Toyota if I were to take it to Europe?

Did someone say road trip? If you’re planning on taking your Toyota to Europe, you’ll be pleased to know that we offer European car cover as a minimum level as standard. Just let us know in advance, and we can arrange for you to have the same level of cover you have in the UK – it’s really simple and takes no time at all. But if you want to do this, a small fee will apply – so be mindful. For more information, please visit our European car cover page.

About Toyota

Early Beginnings

Did you know that Toyota began its journey as Toyoda Automatic Loom Works? The automatic loom patent was later sold on–helping Toyoda move into the Japanese car manufacturing industry. Then, in 1939, Toyoda wanted to change its name. So it held a competition and asked its employees to enter suggestions. And you guessed it–Toyota was the winning entry. But do you know why? Well, apparently ‘Toyota’ takes eight strokes to write in Japanese – which is a lucky number!

First Car

Toyota’s first car was the prototype Toyoda AA. This was a passenger car that went into production in 1936. During that time, the Japanese market was full of American cars, and Toyoda had to compete with brands like Ford and General Motors. So, unsurprisingly, the Toyoda AA was heavily influenced by these American car brands.

Present Day

Today, Toyota is one of the largest car manufacturers in the world. It has 52 overseas manufacturing plants in 27 countries. And the cars are sold in over 160 countries. So wherever you are in the world, we’re sure you’ll find a Toyota!

Toyota doesn’t just care about its sales. It’s environmentally conscious, too. It’s leading from the forefront by creating hybrid car models that use less fuel. In fact, they make up 70% of alternatively powered vehicles in Europe. Today, Toyota has sold 10,000,000 hybrid cars worldwide – saving the planet 77 million tons of CO2.
