But if you can’t see your car on the list, it doesn’t mean to say we won’t insure it. So get on the blower and ask us for a quote – you could save yourself a small fortune!

Kia Picanto Insurance Groups

Do you need car insurance for a Kia Picanto? The Kia Picanto is a compact five-door car and it’s small size makes it easy to navigate narrow roads, so it’s great for city dwellers. The Picanto comes with three different trim levels, which feature things like air conditioning, leather-trimmed steering wheel and alloy wheels. All trim levels come with practical safety features like airbags, ESP traction and stability control – helping you to stay safe while on the roads. You should be aware that the more expensive trim levels may increase your Kia car insurance quote.

About Kia

Early Beginnings

Did you know that Kia was actually a steel tubing and bicycle parts manufacturer? Well it was! It was founded in 1944 as Kyunsung Precision Industry and later went on to produce Korea’s first bicycle. In 1952, the company changed its name to Kia Industries and went on to produce its first car in 1973.

In 1973, Kia opened its first manufacturing plant and quickly began making small range cars. However, the company stopped producing them in 1981 due to the country’s politics in the automotive industry. By 1986, Kia re-joined the automotive industry and made a staggering 95,000 cars the very next year.

First Car

Do you know what Kia’s first car was? It was called the Pride and it was launched in 1987 – and was exported to Japan and the US that same year. Originally a sedan that came in several door ranges, the Kia Pride was re-designed in 1993. Then, it was finally replaced by the Rio in the year 2000.

Present Day

Today, Kia’s headquarters is based in Seoul, and is the largest car manufacturer after the Hyundai Motor Company – having sold 3.3 million cars in 2015. Motors has focussed mainly on the European and US markets since 2005, and opened Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia in 2010.
