Mini Car Insurance

What do you think of when you hear Mini? The Union Jack? The Italian Job? Perhaps it makes you think of lots of people squeezing into a small space? The Mini is quintessentially British, and instantly recognisable. And its compact design can still transport four people and their luggage. The Mini became an important part of British culture, and its first design almost remained unchanged for nearly 41 years! What’s more, in 1999, it was voted the second most important car of the 21st century . If you have a Mini, make sure it’s covered with us! We have 5 Star rated car insurance, so what are you waiting for?

Mini Car Insurance groups

We insure lots of Mini models. So to make your life easier, we’ve created a handy list of insurance groups for the most popular ones. Unfortunately, we can’t mention every Mini we insure. But if you can’t see your car on the list, it doesn’t mean to say we won’t insure it. Why not get a quote from us to see how much you could save?

Mini Countryman Insurance Groups

Do you need car insurance for a Mini Countryman? The Mini Countryman is a crossover SUV and the first BMW-era Mini with five-doors and four-wheel drive. Plus it’s a foot longer than the original Mini.

For those that like their techy features, you’ll be pleased to learn that the Countryman comes with HD screen, rear parking sensors and air conditioning. And other versions have add-on products like LED fog lights, leather interiors and sports suspension. It comes in two engines sizes: 1.6-litres and 2.0-litres. Even though it has a lot of add-ons, the Countryman’s safety features and small size keep it in the lower, more affordable insurance groups.

Clubman One, the entry-level model is available with either a 1.2-litre TwinPower petrol engine or a 1.2-litre TwinPower turbo diesel engine. Mid-range, you'll find the Cooper with a 1.5L engine, and the Cooper S petrol and Cooper SD diesel models, both with 2.0L engines. At the top of the range is the JWC, which has the most powerful engine – 2.0-litre turbo at 228bhp. For add-ons, you might have cruise control, a touchscreen navigation system and rear door remote control. Mini's 'ALL 4' intelligent all-wheel drive system is available for the higher range models. The Clubman sits in the mid-level insurance groups.

All this causes the Mini Convertible to fall into the mid-level insurance groups.

The Mini Convertible comes with either manual or automatic gearbox, and an engine size between 1.5-litres to 2.0-litres (depending on the model you have). Just remember a larger engine size could increase your Mini car insurance quote.

It also comes with petrol and diesel engines that range from 1.6-litres to 2.0-litres. The options for engine size and trim levels, along with add-ons like cruise control, put the Paceman in insurance groups 13-15. About Mini

Early Beginnings

The Mini began back in 1956 due to a fuel shortage caused by the Suez Crisis . The price of petrol was at an all-time high, so car manufacturers started making more practical, economic models. The British Motor Corporation commissioned a skilled engineer called Alec Issigonis to create a new car design. And by 1956, Issigonis has come up with the Austin Mini. This was made available to the public in 1959, and featured storage pockets that were made for bottles of Gordon’s gin!

Initially it took a little while for the Mini to take off. But it soon became popular after celebrities started driving them. And although the original design remained unchanged for almost four decades, the name of the Mini changed several times as it was acquired by different companies.

Present Day

The Mini stayed a firm favourite with many drivers, right throughout the 20th Century. It even has several special editions out in the 80s and 90s. In 1994, Mini was bought by BMW who redesigned it – launching a modern version in 2001. Although the modern Mini was technically unrelated to the original design, it still kept a lot of its original appearance, which people loved. Even though the Mini has changed, it is still cherished by drivers worldwide.
