Football fans travelling to South Africa next year for the World Cup finals have been told to plan carefully in order to make their trip a safe and memorable one.
The Foreign Office has advised supporters to register their travel plans on their website and book appropriate travel insurance before they go in order to avoid some of the scams and pitfalls that have plagued past tournaments.
Cash machine scams, fake tickets, high crime rates and hiked hotel prices are just some of the dangers travellers from the UK can expect to encounter on their summer trip, officials said.
Foreign Office Minister Chris Bryant said: "Visiting the Foreign Office website to research the destination, as well as taking out appropriate travel insurance in case something does go wrong, can make all the difference between an experience to remember and one to forget."
The comments come following the launch of the Foreign Office's "Be On The Ball" campaign which aims to prepare England fans for their trip to the tournament.
