Teen movie Ferrari replica on sale

A glamorous red replica Ferrari from the 1986 John Hughes classic, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, could fetch up to £40,000 at auction.

The "ready-to-drive" 250GT Spyder California replica will give its buyer Ferrari's style at considerably less cost and car insurance premium than the "very rare and expensive" original.

Only 100 genuine units of the model were made by Ferrari between 1958 and 1963.

Paramount commissioned a reproduction of the car for the movie, which starred Matthew Broderick as a teenager who decides to bunk off school and spend a day exploring Chicago with his friends.

The pair are shown driving around the city in a 250GT Spyder California borrowed from one of their fathers.

The replica is now going up for sale at Bonhams Collectors' Motor Cars and Automobilia auction on April 19 at the RAF Museum in Hendon, north London, and is expected to fetch between £30,000 and £40,000.
