Elderly female motorists have been voted the worst in terms of driving ability in a survey of almost 21,000 road users.
And the research by Auto Trader magazine found that Londoners were ranked as the worst drivers in the UK, while those from East Anglia were thought to be the best.
In terms of age, old drivers were considered the worst, closely followed by young motorists. Drivers of vans, taxis and buses also qualified as being poor drivers.
Men were found to be better drivers than women, and the most hated make of car was BMW, followed by Subaru, Mercedes-Benz and Land Rover.
“It’s good that most motorists recognise bad driving habits, both in themselves and other road users,” said Tom White, head of partnerships at Auto Trader.
“However, the important thing is that motorists change these bad driving habits because with the rising cost of motoring, it is well worth driving responsibly to stay safe and ensure your car insurance premiums stay low.”
