Former Formula 1 world champion Sir Jackie Stewart has denied reports that he was driving the supercar which crashed during a test run near Aberdeen.
The car insurance company which provided cover for the 220mph Pagani Zonda S was left with a repair bill of more than £300,000 after it was wrecked in last September's crash.
A professional was test driving the £528,000 supercar when it spun out of control on a narrow country road before hitting a telegraph pole and smashing through a fence.
It has now been sent back to Modena, Italy, where it was manufactured, for repairs.
Newspaper reports claiming that motor sports legend Sir Jackie was behind the wheel have been dismissed by his private secretary Oliver Anderson.
Mr Anderson said: "He was not in the country. He was not there. He would have been in Switzerland."
