As many as 8% of school-run drivers have had a crash while delivering or picking up children, a survey has showed.
Some 15% have driven a youngster to school without them being properly restrained, the poll from Sainsbury's found.
Around 13% blamed fear of being late for work, school or an appointment for erratic driving on the school run.
Traffic congestion and being distracted by children were also reasons given for poor driving.
Based on responses from 2,016 adults aged 16-64, the survey also showed that 9% of male drivers have had a collision on the school run in the last five years compared with 7% of women.
Men (18%) were also more likely than women (12%) to drive incorrectly-restrained children, with Londoners more likely than drivers from any other area to have a school-run crash.
East Midlands and West Midlands' drivers were the "safest" school-run motorists.
The poll also revealed that there were more accidents in the morning run than the evening one, with women more likely to have a morning accident.
