Norfolk scooter training on offer

Norfolk Police are offering road safety training for mobility scooter drivers in an attempt to reduce the number of accidents.

Officers in Great Yarmouth have launched the scheme after members of the public voiced their concerns about the electric scooters.

As part of the training, people are being taught how to drive through a course of cones and other hazards, tips on how to reverse safely and road safety advice.

A Norfolk Constabulary spokesman said: "We have listened to the issues and concerns of the public and, with the help of our partners, have developed a mobility scooter awareness course that enhances the users' ability to use their scooter in a safe and appropriate manner."

Currently, drivers of the low-speed scooters do not need to pass a test and by law they do not have to hold insurance.
