A driver who found himself teetering on the edge of a cliff after following instructions from his sat-nav has been ordered to pay almost £900 for driving offences.
Robert Jones, 43, of Doncaster, almost fell down a 100ft cliff in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, after his navigation system told him to drive up a steep, narrow path.
Jones denied the charge of driving without due care and attention, but was found guilty and fined £370 by Calderdale Magistrates' Court. He was also given six penalty points and ordered to pay £500 in costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Jones, who works as a driver, said he trusted the sat-nav and had continued to follow instructions when it told him the footpath he was driving on was a road.
Police officers were called to the scene after reports that a BMW was hanging off the edge of a cliff off Bacup Road.
