Comedian Jimmy Carr has been convicted of a speeding offence following a lengthy legal battle.
The 37-year-old was fined £300 and given three points on his licence after travelling at 50mph in a 40mph zone in his Bentley GT in Boxford, Suffolk, on April 30, 2008, a court heard.
At Bury St Edmunds Magistrates' Court, Carr's celebrity lawyer Nick Freeman - known as Mr Loophole - failed to argue that the speed limit was "defective" because the street name where Carr was caught did not correspond to the speed control order.
Mr Freeman also argued that there had been an "abuse of process" at an earlier hearing.
Carr was found guilty after a trial which began in September.
District Judge Stuart Miller also ordered Carr to pay £1,860 in prosecution costs, expert witness costs of £1,344.05 and a £15 victim surcharge.
Outside court Mr Freeman said Carr, who was not present for the hearing, has 21 days to decide whether to appeal the decision.
