More than a third of commuters in Northern Ireland would rather spend the hour they waste stuck in traffic each day in bed, according to a study.
Research by Travelwise NI found 34% would be most happy under the covers, with another 21% saying they'd use the time productively to exercise.
One in five said they would like to spend the time with their family, while a similar number (19%) said they would prefer to spend the lost hour working.
The survey was launched to mark European Mobility week (16-22 September.
Other research from the Department of Regional Development found that with the return of pupils causing increased traffic during the 'school run' period, people from dormitory towns now spend an extra hour a day travelling to and from work in Belfast, compared to during the school holidays.
Aileen Gault, head of Travelwise NI said: "With people now having to leave for work earlier and get home later, it is far from surprising that 34% of those surveyed said that if they were able to reclaim that hour lost each day they would like to spend it in bed."
