Bank holiday gridlock misery
A bank holiday is a chance to unwind and recharge the batteries, but they can also provide their own frustrations as millions of people take to the roads, increasing the risk of traffic congestion and accidents.
As children get time off school and parents have an extended weekend, around 15 million cars take to the road over a bank holiday weekend.
As is tradition the weather can often turn cold and wet during bank holiday weekends, causing misery for people making travel plans, especially those heading to the coast.
With the increased amount of traffic on the road, statistically the number of break downs and accidents are likely to increase. In order to cover the costs of a potential accident, motorists are urged to ensure they have valid car insurance.
Some may keep the car in the garage and take on some home repair and do-it-yourself projects rather than travel on a bank holiday.
