What to do if you crash

Let's hope it never happens and let's remember, we are able to offer car insurance for a woman at better rates than men because you are less likely to have an accident than a man, but, accidents do happen and it's just as well to know what you should do if it happens to you.

*INTERESTING FACTS: In 2005, 178,302 people were killed or injured while travelling in cars. Of these, 157,331 were drivers or front seat passengers.

What to do:

  1. Don't panic! Make sure you and any passengers you have with you are safe and out of danger before you do anything else. We covered the car insurance for a woman who ran into the back of a car in a traffic jam, panicked, reversed away, pulling the bumper off the car in front and ramming into the car of a startled driver behind. If it happens to you, take a deep breath and think before you do anything else.
  2. Call the emergency services if anyone is badly injured or if you suspect that another driver was driving dangerously or illegally, or if cars are blocking carriageways or represent a hazard to other traffic.
  3. Get the names of any other drivers involved and the name of any witnesses, together with contact details.
  4. Always take down the registration number of any other cars involved.
  5. Take down details and information about their car insurance. (for a woman or man involved in an accident, it is not unusual for them not to have the details of insurance on them. As long as you have the registration number of their car and name and contact details, we should be able to trace insurance details later.)

Because we are specialists, offering cheaper car insurance for a women drivers, we understand how you might feel should you be unfortunate enough to have an accident, especially if you are unlucky enough to be faced with an aggressive driver. Why not put our details into your mobile phone? That way you have instant access to advice and the details of your car insurance. To be able to talk to people who understand your situation can be really reassuring at a time like this.
