  1. How quick is the response time to breakdown call outs?

    The average response time is 30 minutes but we try our best to get to you as soon as possible!

  2. Who is given priority?

    Greenflag prioritise all customers who are in potentially vulnerable situations.  This could be a woman on her own on a remote road, an elderly driver on a motorway, or drivers with young children, as we understand how worrying these situations can be.  Not all these drivers are in vulnerable situations every time but when they are, they are put on a higher priority.  That said, the average response time is only 30 mins.

  3. Can I call if I have a punctured tyre, lose my keys, run out of fuel, or put in the wrong fuel?

    Yes!  All levels of Breakdown Assistance provide you with cover should you need help due to any of the above reasons.  After all ladies these things happen and we want to get you back on the road again as soon as possible!

  4. Who is your Breakdown Assistance cover provided by?

    We have teamed up with Green Flag who have over 40 years experience in providing breakdown assistance.  So with all that experience you can rest easy that your cover is with a well known and long standing breakdown assistance provider with a network of local mechanics and garages ready to get you running again should you need them.

  5. Is my car still covered if I am not driving it?

    Yes! It is the car that is insured under the Breakdown Assistance cover, not the individual, so your car will still be covered even if you are not the one driving it . However if you select  the "any car" extension, then you and your partner are covered in any car you are driving or travelling in, giving you total peace of mind.

  6. Why would I need Breakdown Assistance, I have a brand new car?

    Well it is true that the newer your car is the more unlikely it is to breakdown, but you could still:

    • run out of fuel or put in the wrong fuel
    • lose your keys
    • have a puncture

    In these situations it doesn't matter how old your car is!  All that matters is getting you back on the road!

  7. Am I covered for breakdowns if I am in someone else's car?

    This depends on the type of cover you buy. For an additional fee on all the Breakdown Assistance options you can extend your level of cover to any car you or your partner is travelling or driving in. So if you were out with your partner or a friend and their car broke down you could use your Breakdown Assistance to get you moving again. To add this option to your policy, simply call us on 0845 604 3550.

  9. Can I view the Breakdown Assistance policy details?

    Yes and we would expect nothing less from a Sheilas' Wheels customer!  You can view the Breakdown Assistance Policy wording within the car insurance policy booklet, which relates to Breakdown Assistance.

  10. How much does breakdown assistance cover cost?

    The cost of cover depends on the level of cover you choose and the age of your car. Get a car insurance quote now and choose the level of Breakdown Assistance cover you want.

  11. Am I covered abroad?

    Currently none of our Breakdown Assistance options cover you whilst driving abroad.

  12. My car is quite old, will you cover it?

    We will cover cars that are less than 17 years old when cover starts.

  13. Is breakdown assistance cover cheaper if I buy online?

    It is the same price if bought online or over the phone.

  14. Do you have a 'Recovery Only' option?

    We don't have a recovery only option but take a look at the Breakdown Assistance Cover Options, which explains all the levels of cover available.  It may be cheaper than you think to buy Breakdown Assistance cover!

  15. What number do I need to call if I breakdown?

    See our Contact us page where you will find all the useful numbers you may need.  We also send all new customers a handy card to keep in your car or handbag, which has a list of useful contact numbers.

  16. Will my caravan or trailer be covered?

    If you are towing a trailer or caravan when you breakdown then they have the same level of cover as your car.  Weight and size restrictions apply.  So even if you are heading off on your caravanning trip you are still covered!

  17. Can I buy Breakdown Assistance without Sheilas' Wheels car insurance?

    Sorry ladies but the Breakdown Assistance cover is currently only offered in conjunction with  car insurance.
