Car Hire Benefit - FAQ's
Here are some frequently asked questions that may help to answer any queries you have.

How long does this benefit provide me with a hire car for?
This benefit will provide a hire car for a period of up to 21 days while we sort out your claim. The vehicle will be made available to you no later than the next working day after we agree that your car is a total loss or is unrecovered following a theft. It must be returned upon the earliest of the following dates:
- When your policy is cancelled or it expires
- 48 hours after we issue the settlement payment
- 21 days after the car is made available to you

Does this benefit apply to all claims I make?
No, this is only for theft claims when your car has not been recovered, and for accident claims where we agree with you that your car is a total loss.

Will I need separate insurance for the hire car?
No. For the period you have the hired car it will be insured under your existing motor insurance policy, with the same terms. If your policy is lapsed or cancelled the hired car will no longer be insured and you must return it to the car hire company immediately.

If my claim has concluded and my settlement payment has been made, can I keep the hire car for the full 21 day period?
You must return the hired car to the car hire company no later than 48 hours after the settlement payment is issued to the policyholder or no later than the 21st day of hire (whichever comes first).

What type of vehicle is provided under this benefit?
A group A vehicle (Ford KA or similar) provided by a car hire company that we instruct.
